LastHour is a menu bar app for macOS that tracks how much time you spend in each application, entirely on your own Mac.
The short version
LastHour does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Everything stays on your device.
What LastHour stores
To show you your usage statistics, LastHour records locally:
- The names and bundle identifiers of the apps you use
- How long each app stays in the foreground, with timestamps
- Your settings and preferences (categories, notification rules, theme, etc.)
This information is stored only on your Mac, in:
~/Library/Application Support/LastHour
What LastHour does NOT do
- It does not send any data off your device.
- It has no servers, accounts, analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking.
- It does not require an internet connection to track your usage.
- It does not read the contents of your documents, websites, or screen.
- It does not log your keystrokes.
Idle detection
To pause tracking when you step away, LastHour checks how long it has been since your last input (mouse or keyboard) and whether the foreground app is playing audio or video. It uses only the timing of this activity, never the content of what you type.
Purchases
LastHour Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the transaction; LastHour never sees your payment details. Purchase validation happens through Apple’s StoreKit on your device.
Notifications
If you enable usage reminders, notifications are generated locally on your Mac. No notification data leaves your device.
Deleting your data
You can remove all stored data at any time by deleting the folder above, or by uninstalling LastHour.
